Samstag, der 19. August 2017
RosaCaleta inaugurates a photo exhibition with photographs of the Berlin photographer Daniel M. Schmude on February 14 starting at 19:00.Daniel M. Schmude is a Berlin photographer who studied photography in Berlin and New York.He is most fascinated by the human body – the varieties, aesthetics and its expressiveness. When he looks at people, he looks at their different characteristics, and imagines how he would photograph them. Everyone has an interesting story which can be told in body language; each human form has its own aesthetic beauty. The naked body allows Schmude to take an honest look at a person. Stripped away of clothes what remains is a pure, a true representation.Playing with light and shadows can bring out the hidden aesthetic features of people, which often are overseen or not recognized. It always fascinates him when his models rediscover or become aware of their own aesthetic in front of the camera. Photography is not about perfection: imperfections make interesting images.Photography gives Schmude also an opportunity to express his thoughts about social problems, to view the world from different perspectives, to be provocative. Identity and sexuality are issues that concern him. He considers photography as visual storytelling; therefore, he has always sought to capture those who still struggle for a voice, for representation.Schmude is influenced by Robert Mapplethorpe, Man Ray and Albert Watson.See more from him on www.dmsphotodesign.com.
