Vernissage “Earnest” with Maximilian Magnus Schmidbauer

On Thursday, June 7, we open the new exhibition “Earnest” at 6 p.m. The artist Maximilian Magnus Schmidbauer is set painter, owns his studio and the „Academy of Scenic Painting and Arts“.

He realized already projects like i.e. the visual design for an afterparty of Rufus Wainwright and Norah Jones. He had several exhibitions in international cities like Barcelona, Moscow and New York. For the current pieces he used acrylics, lacquer, charcoal on canvas.

vernissage “Go West! Lost in the hall of mirrors”

On March 8, RosaCaleta hosts the vernissage “Go West! Lost in the hall of mirrors” starting at 18:00. The artist Ivan Jovanovic presents paintings from Toronto and Berlin between the years 2008 and 2011.

Ivan Jovanovic studied Fine Arts at the York University in Toronto, Canada and graduated in 1996. Since then he exhibited in galleries in Toronto, New York City and London, U.K. Today the artist lives in Berlin, Germany.

Black History Month at RosaCaleta

This Sunday, Feb 26, 2012, starting at 5 PM, we are pleased to present our annual celebration of Black History month, this year with the theme TRIBUTE!

Given the events of the past few weeks, we decided it was fitting to pay tribute to the fallen stars of the last decade, who have serenaded, inspired and comforted us over so many years.

The line-up includes, among others, Ahmad Larnes, Sharmaine Lovegrove and a small open mic session for those in the crowd who feel moved to give their tribute to our heroes no longer with us.

Please also come prepared to sign our wall of tribute, where you can also express your thoughts on your favourite singer who has perished in the last decade.

It’s our 3rd birthday on Feb 18!

Caribbean flair has found its way to Kreuzberg (a district of Berlin). RosaCaleta, which is located between Lausitzerplatz and Mariannenplatz, serves traditional Jamaican food. Delicious fish, meat and vegetarian dishes with fruity and spicy flavours are served outside on the terrace or inside between colourful artwork by various artists – currently paintings by Christian Guhl. Meals start with a serving of corn as well as pepper & thyme bread followed by a fresh summer salad with raspberry dressing. The “Jerk Plate” – a Caribbean speciality – including chicken wings, shrimp, pickled vegetables and pineapple also works for those who don’t like it too spicy. Main courses include diced pork filet mignon with sweet potato & ginger gnocchi and the “Fish Escovitch” – fried fish with pepper, green asparagus and herb madelaines. The cocktails are also worth trying! “Make Me Young and Beautiful” – a modern interpretation of the Jamaican rum punch is dangerously delicious. But nobody has to be made young and beautiful here – the crowd at RosaCaleta is that already.
